About Us
Who We Are
The Sudanese Initiative for Nonviolence and Development (STAND) was established and officially registered in Uganda in 2025, offering a beacon of hope for a more peaceful and prosperous Sudan. As an independent, non-governmental, and non-profit organization, STAND is dedicated to fostering peace through nonviolent conflict transformation, promoting development via civic engagement and community empowerment, and advocating for good governance through enhanced community participation, accountability, and transparency.
Despite being newly founded, STAND boasts a strong foundation rooted in extensive connections with diverse stakeholders and actors. Our founders, seasoned veterans of the Sudanese civil society, bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the table. This collective knowledge enables STAND to leverage proven approaches and a professional team style grounded in Result-Based Management principles.
STAND‘s mission is built on the conviction that lasting peace, development, and good governance are achievable through inclusive and participatory approaches. By empowering communities and promoting civic engagement, we aim to create a more just and equitable society where all individuals can thrive.
With its robust foundation, experienced leadership, and commitment to positive change, STAND is poised to make a meaningful impact in Sudan. As we embark on this journey, we are guided by a shared vision of a peaceful, prosperous, and just society, and we look forward to collaborating with like-minded organizations, communities and individuals to achieve this goal.
