STAND and Bana kicked off a successful partnership on International Women’s Day

On March 8, 2026, in celebration of International Women’s Day, the Sudanese Initiative for Nonviolence and Development (STAND), Bana Group for Peace and Development and Tareeq Talet Media, organized a significant joint event held at Bana premises. The gathering attracted a diverse group of Sudanese civil society representatives and individuals residing in Uganda, all united by a common commitment to advocate for women’s rights and raise awareness about critical issues affecting their communities.

      • Joint Iftar: Participants enjoyed a communal meal, fostering connection and solidarity.

      • Presentations on Women’s Rights:

      • A paper discussing the violations faced by women in conflict areas in Sudan, highlighting advocacy strategies to combat these injustices.

      • A presentation focused on the situation of women with disabilities in conflict zones, accompanied by actionable recommendations for an advocacy plan.

       

        • Q&A and Interaction Session: Attendees participated in an open dialogue, exchanging views and suggestions on the discussed topics.

        • Cultural Performances: The event featured music, celebrating Sudanese cultures and enhancing community spirit.

        • Closing Remarks: The event concluded with reflections on the importance of continuous coordination and unity of the Sudanese civil society voices.
